Since 1939, O'Keeffe's has been a name synonymous with innovation and design. Holding the first patent in 1951 on using extrusions in the construction of skylights, allowing the weeping of any condensation or leakage to be taken to the outside by the extrusion's built-in guttering system.

It wasn't long before the company was recognized for excellence in custom skylights, bringing natural daylight to thousands of creative and innovative monumental projects worldwide. These include the Museum of Modern Art and the Court of Appeals in San Francisco, the World Bank in Washington D.C., the Como Conservatory in St. Paul, MN, the Getty Museum and Gateway Center in Los Angeles, the Houston Galleria in Houston, and many more.

O'Keeffe's also designed the first square rung ladder with extrusions and the first seismic curtain wall in 1970. The square rung ladder is still the most specified aluminum ladder in the USA, and with O'Keeffe's engineering expertise, we can custom fabricate virtually any type of fixed access, ship, cage or custom ladder you need. O'Keeffe's Inc. was the first company to enter the fire rated glazing market and started testing in the USA in 1978. O'Keeffe's continued to be a leading manufacturer of custom skylights until 2004, when the company decided to channel all its energy and focus on its innovative spirit to manufacturing and developing advanced fire rated glass and framing systems through SAFTI FIRST while it continues to advance the architectural ladders division through O'Keeffe's Inc.
