1.5  QUALITY ASSURANCE

	A.  Manufacturer Qualifications: Company specializing in manufacturing products specified in this section with a minimum five years documented experience.

	B.  Installer Qualifications: Company specializing in performing Work of this section with minimum two years documented experience with projects of similar scope and complexity.

	C.  Source Limitations: Provide each type of product from a single manufacturing source to ensure uniformity.
** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include mock-up if the project size or quality warrant the expense. The following is one example of how a mock-up on might be specified. When deciding on the extent of the mock-up, consider all the major different types of work on the project.

	D.  Mock-Up: Construct a mock-up with actual materials in sufficient time for Architect's review and to not delay construction progress. Locate mock-up as acceptable to Architect and provide temporary foundations and support.
		1.  Intent of mock-up is to demonstrate quality of workmanship and visual appearance.
		2.  If mock-up is not acceptable, rebuild mock-up until satisfactory results are achieved.
		3.  Retain mock-up during construction as a standard for comparison with completed work. 
		4.  Do not alter or remove mock-up until work is completed or removal is authorized.

1.6  PRE-INSTALLATION CONFERENCE

	A.  Convene a conference approximately two weeks before scheduled commencement of the Work. Attendees shall include Architect, Contractor and trades involved. Agenda shall include schedule, responsibilities, critical path items and approvals.

1.7  DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

	A.  Store and handle in strict compliance with manufacturer's written instructions and recommendations.
		1.  Organize package contents to minimize sorting on site.
		2.  Verify quantities and condition immediately upon receipt. Remove damaged products from the site, coordinate with the manufacturer to replace with new materials to meet specified requirements.

	B.  Steel siding wall panels are identified by a label affixed on product packaging. The label is to include the company name, Quality Edge, Inc., and product name or code.

	C.  Protect from damage due to weather, excessive temperature, and construction operations.

1.8  PROJECT CONDITIONS

	A.  Field Measurement: Verify field conditions prior to shop drawings or fabrications.

	B.  Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's recommended limits.

	C.  Ensure that products of this section are supplied to affected trades in time to prevent interruption of construction progress.

1.9  WARRANTY

	A.  Manufacturer's limited warranty unless indicated otherwise.

	B.  Warranty applies only to building products installed in the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia. 

	C.  Lifetime Limited Warranty includes protection against peeling, flaking, chipping, cracking, color fade, chalking, rust, hail, and abrasion. Vesta's steel core is unlike any other and designed to defend against whatever nature throws at it. An anti-corrosive zinc barrier provides unyielding protection born to last generations.
		1.  Duration for Residential Vesta Siding: Lifetime Limited Warranty.

		2.  Yield Strength: 33,000 to 55,000 psi (227.52 to 379.21 Mpa).
		3.  Profile: Supports vertical, horizontal or porch ceiling installation.
		4.  Elongation: Greater than 20 percent
		5.  Humidity Cabinet: Panels given 90 degree bend and subjected to 100 percent Relative Humidity at 95 to 105 degrees F (35 to 40.5 degrees C) for 1,000 hours; no blistering, cracking, loss of gloss or peeling and no softening after 24 hour recovery. 
		6.  Film Adhesion:
			a.  No blistering or loss of adhesion after immersion in distilled boiling water for a minimum of 4 hours followed by a minimum 4 hour freeze test.
			b.  Finish shall not be removed from cross hatched lines scored 1/8 inch (3 mm) apart after application of number 600 Scotch tape.
		7.  Reverse Impact: Garner impact tester; 5/8 inch (16 mm) steel ball, 120 inch-lbs (13.6 n-m).
		8.  Bending: 1-2T 180 degree bend, 0.020 inch (0.51 mm) thick steel.
		9.  Salt Spray: When subject to a 5 percent salt solution per ASTM B117, shall withstand 1,000 hours exposure without blistering or loss of adhesion. Quality Edge warrants installations further than 1,500 feet (457.2 m) from the ocean.
		10.  Weatherometer: Tested in accordance with ASTM D822-57T after period of 2,000 actual light hours with humidity control shall show no cracking, crazing, or loss of adhesion.

PART 3  EXECUTION

3.1  EXAMINATION

	A.  Examine substrates with installer present. Inspect for tolerances and conditions that could adversely affect installation.

	B.  Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly constructed and prepared.

	C.  If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect in writing of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.

3.2  PREPARATION

	A.  Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.

	B.  Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.

3.3  INSTALLATION

	A.  Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and shop drawings, which must be always available on the Project site for inspection.
		1.  Attach siding in place using manufacturers recommended fasteners, sealants, and adhesives as indicated on shop drawings.
		2.  Cut siding as recommended by manufacturer.
		3.  Prevent galvanic action by treating faces and edges in contact with dissimilar metals as recommended by the manufacturer.
		4.  Install siding with positive anchoring to the building and provide for thermal expansion.
		5.  Provide expansion space as recommended by manufacturer.
		6.  Coordinate installation with flashings and other components.
		7.  Provide concealed fasteners except where approved on shop drawings.
		8.  Set units true to line and levels indicated on the drawings.

	B.  When cutting steel siding a ferrous cutting blade must be used. A carbide tip saw blade with the max number of teeth per the diameter of the blade.

	C.  Planks must be installed on a minimum 1/2 inch (13 mm) OSB or plywood solid flat wall over house wrap. Fasten all panels loose (floating) to wall using 1-1/2 inch (38 mm) nails or screws, inserting fasteners into the holes along the top of the panel 16 inch (406 mm) on center. Ensure each panel is fully engaged to the one below via the pre-rolled feature at the bottom of the panel before fastening it.

	D.  The wood printed panels have 6 distinct wood grains. Printed on the top nailing flange are numbers 1 to 6, these numbers identify the different paints. When installing the panels look at the number and mix them on the wall. The panels are mixed in the box 1 thru 6 from the factory, for the best look install different numbers by the previous panels. 3.4  FIELD QUALITY CONTROL

	A.  Inspect units as they are installed. Do not install cracked, broken, twisted, or damaged units.

	B.  Do not scratch or mar installed units. Units damaged during installation shall be immediately removed and replaces, remove damaged units from the project site.

	C.  Metal building materials should always be stored in a dry, well-ventilated place. Never cover materials with a non-breathing or plastic tarp. This causes condensation to form, which deteriorates the protective coating of the material.

	D.  Inspect complete installation to ensure that it is weather tight in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

3.5  CLEANING

	A.  Remove excess materials and debris from the project site.

3.6  PROTECTION

	A.  Protect installed products until completion of project.

	B.  Steel siding and trim must never come in contact with other metals like aluminum. Flashing tape can be used as a spacer to separate the metals.

	C.  Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
